It all began with a portrait of my late grandfather. I wanted to portrait him as the tailor he was. His workshop still looks the same as back in the day, when he was passionately designing and making clothes. It is the perfect setting for a photographer. With this image I want to do more than just make a portrait, I want it to tell the story about who he was. It was also the start of a series, which I am still working on. Creative people whose work is their passion. It always brings me to interesting people with a story to tell, a story I try to reproduce in my pictures.
I wanted to capture Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and their entourage in a unique way. Unlike most photographers who shoot them in front of the stage, I wanted to capture the story behind it. The artists were not aware of my presence. I was just one of the photographers surrounding them but capturing them from a different angle. In this series you can feel all the emotions during their career.
The purity of the human being. No special make-up or styling. Just the way they are. I just asked them to look into my camera..."click" For me it was once again nice to meet all these people. Each person has their story and that is one of the reasons I love my job. Enjoy!
